Official City Bulletin for Sunday, February 1, 2026

Welcome to the sanfrancisco.news Sunday bulletin. As the city enters the month of February, several key administrative deadlines, public health initiatives, and infrastructure projects go into effect today. Residents and business owners are encouraged to review the following official notices from city and state agencies to ensure compliance and awareness of local service impacts.

Labor & Employment: Workplace Rights Deadline

Effective today, February 1, 2026, all California employers must comply with the final distribution deadline for the mandatory Workplace Know Your Rights Act notice. This requirement applies to all San Francisco businesses regardless of size. Employers are required to provide this notice to all current and newly hired employees, summarizing constitutional rights during workplace interactions with law enforcement and immigration authorities. This notice must be issued as a standalone communication, either electronically or in hard copy, and must be reissued annually.

Public Health Advisory: Super Bowl LX Preparedness

The San Francisco Department of Public Health, in coordination with regional partners, has issued a health advisory for the month of February 2026. With Super Bowl LX scheduled for February 8 in Santa Clara and related mass gatherings beginning in San Francisco on February 3, healthcare providers are requested to maintain heightened surveillance for winter respiratory viruses, including influenza and RSV. Due to the high volume of international and domestic travelers, providers are also advised to monitor for symptoms of non-endemic communicable diseases and measles. Residents are encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations as the winter respiratory season continues.

Infrastructure & Public Works: First Street Reconstruction

San Francisco Public Works has announced active sidewalk reconstruction at the intersection of First Street and Market Street. Through February 6, construction crews will be replacing brick sidewalks at the southwest and southeast corners of the intersection. Pedestrians should expect localized detours and temporary ramp closures. This work is part of a broader effort to maintain ADA-compliant curb ramps and safe walking surfaces throughout the Financial District.

Transit & Traffic: Chase Center Events and Parking

The SFMTA reminds residents of special event parking rates in effect near the Chase Center. With a major home game scheduled for February 3, parking meters in the vicinity will charge a special event rate of $12 per hour to manage congestion and ensure parking availability for residents. Additionally, the 78X Arena Express shuttle will provide supplemental service from the 16th Street BART Station to accommodate event attendees.

Environmental Notice: NOAA Advisory Change

Starting today, February 1, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is officially implementing the Relative Oceanic Niño Index for all weather advisories and climate forecasts. This transition is designed to more accurately reflect ocean warming trends and will impact how El Niño and La Niña conditions are reported for the San Francisco Bay Area and the broader Pacific region.
