The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has issued an urgent health advisory following a tuberculosis outbreak at Archbishop Riordan High School. As of Saturday, January 31, 2026, officials have identified over 50 latent cases and three active cases within the school community. In-person classes have been suspended, and healthcare providers are urged to monitor patients for symptoms. Additionally, the SFDPH warns of elevated levels of seasonal influenza, RSV, and human metapneumovirus currently circulating in the Bay Area. Residents are encouraged to stay up-to-date on vaccinations to mitigate the risk of severe illness during this peak winter virus season.

In preparation for Super Bowl LX, Mayor Daniel Lurie and city public safety leaders have initiated a coordinated security plan to ensure the safety of residents and visitors. Key impacted areas include 4th Street between Market and Howard streets and sections of Stockton and Ellis streets. Most closures will remain in effect daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. through the end of the week. Residents are encouraged to use public transit to avoid delays and can sign up for emergency updates by texting “SuperBowlSF” to 888-777.

The clinic provides specialized testing for residents exposed to hazardous chemicals and airborne pollutants linked to the historic Hunters Point Shipyard. This initiative follows reports of elevated asthma and cancer rates in the area and aims to provide proactive care for those impacted by industrial activities and truck traffic.
