Public Hearings and Civic Meetings

On Friday, February 6, 2026, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is conducting a virtual Engineering Public Hearing starting at 10:00 AM. This session is designated for public testimony regarding proposed street improvements and traffic modifications. Residents may participate in the session online via Microsoft Teams or by telephone by dialing 415-523-2709 and utilizing the conference ID 836 632 456#. Additionally, the city is hosting a Public Budget Meeting today, providing a forum for citizens to review and provide input on municipal fiscal priorities. Participants are reminded that these proceedings are governed by the Sunshine Ordinance, which mandates that government deliberations remain open and accessible to the public.

Department of Public Health Advisories

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has issued two critical advisories that remain active today. First, health officials continue to manage a tuberculosis (TB) outbreak investigation centered at Archbishop Riordan High School. All students and staff members affiliated with the institution are required to undergo mandatory TB evaluations, including diagnostic blood or skin tests, by February 13. While officials emphasize that the risk to the general public is low, local clinicians have been instructed to prioritize screenings for individuals with direct exposure links.

Second, in light of Super Bowl LX activities and related mass gatherings occurring throughout the Bay Area, the SFDPH has released a health preparedness alert. Due to the high volume of international and domestic travelers, residents are urged to practice enhanced hand hygiene and consider wearing high-quality masks in crowded indoor venues to mitigate the spread of respiratory illnesses and norovirus. Following several confirmed measles cases in California earlier this year, healthcare providers are also on high alert for non-endemic symptoms among patients who have recently traveled or attended large-scale events.

Transit and Traffic Impacts

Extensive traffic detours and parking restrictions are currently in effect to accommodate the Super Bowl Experience at the Moscone Center. Major closures include Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets, with rolling restrictions impacting Mission and 4th streets through February 10. To support tonight’s scheduled festivities, the SFMTA has announced that the Central Subway will extend its operating hours, remaining open until 1:30 AM. Extra shuttle service will also be deployed on the T Third Muni line for one hour following evening concerts to facilitate travel between Chinatown and the southern waterfront.

Public Service Announcements

  • Heart Health Month: The San Francisco Health Service System is promoting preventative care throughout February, encouraging residents to adopt heart-healthy habits such as stress management and regular screenings.
  • Term Limit Ballot Measure: Following a recent 7-4 vote by the Board of Supervisors, a measure to implement strict lifetime term limits for the Mayor and Supervisors has been officially qualified for the June 2, 2026, ballot.
