Commute Overview for Tuesday, March 10, 2026

Commuters in San Francisco should prepare for a standard morning commute followed by a more complex evening travel window today, Tuesday, March 10, 2026. A combination of professional sports at the Chase Center and multi-phase infrastructure projects on major freeways will necessitate extra travel time for those moving through the Mission Bay and SoMa corridors.

Warriors Game and Mission Bay Impact

The Golden State Warriors are scheduled to host the Chicago Bulls at the Chase Center tonight, with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. Doors to the arena will open at 5:30 p.m., and heavy traffic is anticipated to build in the Mission Bay and Dogpatch neighborhoods starting as early as 4:00 p.m. To manage the influx of vehicles, the SFMTA has activated special event parking rates of $12 per hour at meters in the immediate vicinity of the arena. Commuters are encouraged to utilize the 78X Arena Express shuttle, which begins service from the 16th Street BART station at 4:30 p.m., or take the T Third Street light rail line to avoid stadium-related gridlock.

Major Roadworks and Arterial Delays

  • US-101 (Hospital Curve): As part of an ongoing safety and pedestrian improvement project, nightly ramp closures are scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. tonight and last until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Drivers should expect closures at the southbound US-101 off-ramp to eastbound Cesar Chavez Street and the Bayshore Boulevard off-ramp to eastbound Cesar Chavez.
  • Bay Bridge West Span: Phase 3 of the Expansion Joint Rehabilitation project is currently active. While the bridge remains open to traffic today, motorists should be cautious of temporary deck plates installed between the W2 and W3 towers. These plates may cause minor vibrations and require reduced speeds in the far-right lanes.
  • Howard Streetscape Project: Intermittent lane closures are expected between The Embarcadero and 4th Street today from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the installation of new traffic signals and protected bike lanes.
  • Geary Boulevard: Long-term utility replacement continues between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Expect localized delays and limited curb-side parking in these blocks throughout the day.

Public Transport Updates

  • BART: Ongoing upgrades to the train control system will result in 5-to-7-minute delays for passengers traveling between Millbrae and SFO after 7:30 p.m. Additionally, riders using station vending machines are reminded to hold their Clipper cards against the reader twice during any transaction to ensure funds are properly loaded.
  • Muni Service: In addition to the 78X Arena Express, Muni will provide supplemental service on the 15 Bayview-Hunters Point Express to accommodate the evening game crowd.

Commuters are advised to monitor real-time digital signage and allow for an additional 15 to 20 minutes for cross-city travel during the evening rush hour.
