Super Bowl LX: Traffic and Transit Advisories

As San Francisco manages the concluding events of the Super Bowl LX Experience, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has confirmed that several major street closures remain in effect through Sunday, February 8, 2026. While some security zones, such as the block of Jones Street between McAllister and Golden Gate, were scheduled to reopen this morning at 7:00 a.m., significant disruptions continue in the SoMa and downtown districts. Major active notices include:

  • Mission Street: Closed to non-local traffic between 3rd and 5th Streets from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. today.
  • Howard Street: Remains fully closed between 3rd and 4th Streets through February 10.
  • Stockton Street: Southbound travel remains restricted at the Post and O'Farrell intersections through late this evening.
  • Jessie Street: Closed between New Montgomery and Annie Streets until Monday, February 9.

Travelers are urged to allow extra time and utilize Muni subway services, which are running with increased frequency to accommodate regional crowds. Be advised that parking restrictions are being strictly enforced within 100 feet of all posted temporary signage.

Public Health Notice: Mass Gathering Precautions

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has issued a high-priority health advisory for the Super Bowl weekend. Due to large-scale mass gatherings, there is an elevated risk of transmission for respiratory illnesses, including influenza, COVID-19, and RSV. Health officials recommend that all attendees practice thorough hand hygiene and consider wearing high-quality masks in indoor venues. Clinicians have also been alerted to monitor for potential non-endemic disease syndromes following a recent rise in measles cases across California.

Additionally, the department continues to oversee a response to a tuberculosis (TB) outbreak at a local high school. While the risk to the general public remains low, the affected campus remains under hybrid learning protocols until February 20, and mandatory testing is required for all exposed students and staff.

Labor and School District Bulletin: Monday Closures

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is currently in emergency weekend negotiations with the United Educators of San Francisco to resolve a contract dispute. Regardless of the outcome of these labor talks, all SFUSD schools will be closed on Monday, February 9, for a pre-scheduled day of rest. If an agreement is not reached today, a strike may affect operations starting Tuesday, February 10. Families are encouraged to check for final notification via the district’s official portals later this evening.

Official Legislative Notice: Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors has posted the agenda for its upcoming regular meeting on Tuesday, February 10. Key notices include a proposal to establish a new entertainment zone at Fisherman's Wharf and updated regulations regarding the unauthorized use of city property. Public hearing details and participation instructions for this session are currently available through the Clerk of the Board.
