Official Public Notice: City Service Adjustments and Health Advisories for February 16, 2026

Holiday Observance and City Office Closures
The City and County of San Francisco officially observes President’s Day on Monday, February 16, 2026. In accordance with the 2026 City Holiday Schedule, all non-essential administrative offices, including the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, will be closed. Regular business operations and scheduled public hearings for the Board of Supervisors will resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Residents are encouraged to utilize 311 for non-emergency inquiries throughout the holiday weekend.
SFMTA Transit and Parking Enforcement Schedule
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has announced specific service adjustments for the holiday. On Monday, February 16, Muni will operate on a Sunday transit schedule. Additionally, the Taxi Customer Service Window will remain closed for the duration of the day, reopening for regular business on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
Regarding parking enforcement, the following regulations will be in effect on the holiday:
- Parking Meters: All meters, including color-capped and special event meters, will be enforced citywide.
- Loading Zones: White passenger loading and general loading zones remain active and subject to enforcement.
- Street Sweeping: Nightly street sweeping (typically 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.) will be enforced. However, weekday daytime street sweeping (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) is suspended for the holiday.
- Exemptions: Residential Parking Permit (RPP) zones, general parking time limits, and unmetered yellow or green zones will not be enforced.
Public Health Advisories: Measles and Foraging Safety
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has issued an active health alert following an increase in measles cases across California. While no local cases have been reported in the city this year, officials are urging residents to ensure their vaccinations are up to date, particularly before international travel. Clinicians are advised to maintain a high index of suspicion for patients presenting with fever and rash.
Additionally, SFDPH has released a public service advisory regarding wild mushrooms. Following recent seasonal rains, the department warns residents against picking or consuming wild mushrooms found in local parks and open spaces. Consuming unidentified wild mushrooms can lead to severe illness or death, and officials emphasize that distinguishing poisonous varieties from edible ones is difficult even for experienced foragers.
Transition to Digital Permitting Services
San Francisco Planning and the Department of Building Inspection have officially transitioned to digital permitting for specific residential upgrades. As of mid-February 2026, project applications for the in-kind replacement of doors, windows, and siding must be submitted via the city’s new online portal. This transition is part of a broader effort to streamline the permitting process and reduce physical administrative overhead at City Hall.
