Public Traffic Advisory: Marina Boulevard Closures

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and the San Francisco Public Works department have issued a major traffic advisory for the weekend of Saturday, February 21, 2026. Due to the Red Bull Showrun demonstration, Marina Boulevard will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Baker and Buchanan streets. The closure is scheduled to begin at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, and will remain in effect until 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 22.

Local residents will maintain access to their homes via designated checkpoints, though delays are expected between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday during the primary event showcase. Public transit users should note that the 30 Stockton Muni route will be rerouted in both directions from the start of service until 10:00 p.m. Saturday. Impacted stops include those along Mason, Jefferson, and Divisadero streets. Commuters are encouraged to use the 16th Street BART station for express shuttle services if attending events at the Chase Center later this weekend.

Health Advisory: Tuberculosis Response Update

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has released an updated status report regarding the tuberculosis (TB) outbreak at Archbishop Riordan High School. As of February 21, 2026, health officials have confirmed 204 cases of latent TB among the school community following the testing of over 1,200 students and staff. Dr. Susan Philip, the City’s Health Officer, emphasized that latent TB is not contagious and that the risk to the general public remains low.

According to the official notice, 99% of students and 100% of faculty have completed the necessary TB clearance protocols. While the school has returned to in-person instruction, SFDPH continues to monitor the situation and provide treatment guidance for those with latent infections to prevent the development of active disease.

Infrastructure and Transit Alerts

The following infrastructure projects are active as of Saturday, February 21:

  • I-80 Off-Ramp Closure: The eastbound I-80 off-ramp at 4th Street is closed for late-night rehabilitation work. This closure remains in effect until the early morning of Monday, February 23.
  • Folsom Streetscape Project: Construction crews are active on Folsom Street (Segment 3) between 2nd and 5th streets. Motorists should expect lane shifts and temporary parking restrictions as part of the ongoing Vision Zero safety upgrades.
  • Howard Street Upgrades: Intermittent delays continue on Howard Street between The Embarcadero and 4th Street for the installation of new bicycle lanes and landscaping.

Administrative Notice: Digital Permitting Transition

The San Francisco Planning Department reminds property owners that the city has officially transitioned to a mandatory digital permitting system for all in-kind replacements of doors, windows, and siding. As of February 2026, paper applications for these specific projects are no longer accepted. Residents are advised to use the SF Permit Updates portal for all future submissions and to remain vigilant against phishing scams targeting permit applicants.
