Arrest follows three-month investigation into Ocean Beach-area gunfire that sent four youths and one adult to hospital

San Francisco police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of a shooting that wounded five people in the city’s Outer Richmond neighborhood on Nov. 8, 2025, authorities said Thursday.

The gunfire was reported at about 8:53 p.m. in the area of Fulton Street and the Great Highway. Officers arriving at the scene found multiple victims with gunshot wounds and provided emergency aid until paramedics transported the injured to a hospital, police said.

Four of the victims were juveniles who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth victim, an adult man, sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.

Where the case stands now

Police said the department’s Violence Reduction Team assumed responsibility for the case and identified a 17-year-old as the suspected shooter during the subsequent investigation. The teen was located and taken into custody on Feb. 8, 2026, near Third Street and Galvez Avenue in the Bayview neighborhood, police said.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities did not release his name. He was booked into the city’s Juvenile Justice Center on multiple felony allegations, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, being a minor in possession of a firearm, and possession of stolen property. Police also listed several allegations related to carrying a concealed and loaded firearm in public.

Police characterized the case as an active and ongoing investigation and urged anyone with information to contact the San Francisco Police Department’s tip line or text-a-tip service.

What is known about the night of the shooting

In the hours after the Nov. 8 shooting, police and emergency officials described a rapidly unfolding scene near Ocean Beach as officers responded to reports of gunfire and located multiple victims. Public statements issued at the time indicated investigators believed the shooting stemmed from an altercation and was not considered an ongoing threat to the broader community.
