City Notices Roundup: New Mobile Food Regulations and Public Health Advisories

Legislative Updates: Budget and Finance Committee Meeting
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ Budget and Finance Committee will convene today, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Legislative Chamber Room 250 at City Hall. A primary item on the agenda is a proposed ordinance regarding Compact Mobile Food Operation Definitions and Fees. This legislation seeks to amend the Health, Business and Tax Regulations, and Public Works Codes to reflect recent changes in the California Retail Food Code. Key provisions include the introduction of permit categories for auxiliary conveyances and mobile support units, as well as a fee waiver for compact mobile food operations to support small-scale street vendors.
Additionally, the committee will hold a hearing regarding the Mayor’s Budget Instructions for the upcoming 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 fiscal years. City departments and the public are invited to review the Five-Year Financial Plan Update as the city begins its formal budget cycle.
Public Health Advisory: Tuberculosis Update and Heart Health
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has issued a status update regarding the tuberculosis (TB) outbreak at Archbishop Riordan High School. While health officials have confirmed three active cases and identified approximately 204 individuals with latent TB, the Health Officer emphasizes that the risk to the general public remains low. Latent TB is not contagious, and all individuals with active cases are currently receiving treatment and are not present on campus. SFDPH continues to work with the school to provide testing and medical guidance.
In observance of Heart Health Month, the San Francisco Health Service System is encouraging residents to take advantage of preventative care. Officials reminded the public that dental and vision benefits can play a critical role in cardiovascular health, noting that gum disease is linked to increased heart attack risks.
Transit and Public Works: Streetscape Projects and Muni Alerts
The SFMTA has issued a traffic advisory for the Transbay Howard Streetscape Project. Construction activity is scheduled today on Howard Street between The Embarcadero and 4th Street. Commuters should expect intermittent lane closures and delays between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as crews install new safety upgrades and protected bicycle lanes.
- Muni Stop Relocation: The inbound stop for the 1 California and 1X California Express at California Street and 4th Avenue has been moved across the intersection to a new transit bulb to improve boarding safety.
- Pool Closures: Both Coffman Pool and Martin Luther King Jr. Pool remain closed for scheduled replastering and maintenance. Facilities are expected to reopen in early April 2026.
Community Park Improvements
The Recreation and Park Department reminds residents that nominations are currently open for the Community Opportunity Fund. A total of $6 million is available for community-driven park upgrades, including new playgrounds and fitness equipment. Applications will be accepted through March, with a focus on prioritizing projects in environmental justice communities.
