Updated images released as investigation continues

San Francisco police have asked for the public’s help identifying and locating several people of interest connected to an aggravated assault that left two people hospitalized in the Cow Hollow area. The department released updated images on February 25, 2026, and said the case remains an open and active investigation under incident number 26-018(a).

The reported assault stems from events in the early morning hours of February 8, 2026. Police said two victims went to the Northern District Police Station later that same day to report what they described as a physical attack that occurred hours earlier.

What police say happened on February 8

Investigators said the victims were standing outside a business on the 3100 block of Fillmore Street when they were approached by a group of unknown men. Police reported there was a brief verbal altercation before the victims walked away.

Police said the group later approached the victims again on the 2000 block of Union Street, where the confrontation escalated into a physical assault. Both victims sustained extensive injuries and were hospitalized, according to the department.

Police described the matter as an “open and active” investigation and said updated photos of the people of interest were released with the February 25 update.

Why the public request matters in this stage

In cases where investigators have not announced arrests or publicly identified suspects, departments often rely on community tips to help establish identities, locate individuals, or corroborate timelines. Police did not release additional details about the victims or the circumstances of the injuries beyond describing them as extensive.

The department’s use of the phrase “people of interest” indicates investigators are seeking to identify individuals who may have information about, involvement in, or a connection to the incident. Police did not publicly specify whether the people of interest are suspected of committing the assault, witnessing it, or being involved in events leading up to it.
